I made it up to Buck Rock Fire Lookout the other day and was able to spend some time and talk with volunteer fire lookout Nancy and her dog Ty.
Buck Rock Fire Lookout is located in the Sequoia National Forest atop a granite dome and sits at 8500 feet with a 360 degree view of the surrounding forest. It is one of only a few live-in lookouts left in California.
